The global MICE industry has been severely impacted by COVID-19 outbreak, but Hong Kong is on a mission to retain its competitiveness as a premier business events destination and Asia’s MICE capital.

As part of the anti-epidemic fund by the HKSAR government, US $131 million has been allocated to re-ignite Hong Kong’s MICE industry to provide a source of income generation and recovery for their economy.

Most recently, following a series of epidemic prevention measures,  AsiaWorld-Expo (AWE), one of the leading exhibition and convention centers in Asia, became the world’s first exhibition and event venue to install the new “CleanTech” disinfection technology launched at HKIA.

Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center (HKCEC) recently hosted the city’s first exhibition since COVID-19 implementing enhanced sanitization measures and social distancing guidelines such as floor plans, enhanced venue ventilation, logistics at counters and food outlets.

Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) also recently published the “Hygiene Handbook.” which details how the destination is preparing itself for a post-pandemic tourism revival.
