New Downtown Convention Center Hotel Postponed; Millennium Hotel May Be Sold And Redeveloped

There will be no new Downtown convention center hotel, at least for now, officials announced.

Plans for a new convention center hotel have been put on hold while the Cincinnati Center City Development Corp. mulls plans for the competing Millennium Hotel Cincinnati, which is likely being sold to another developer.

Local officials said a private developer has a conditional contract to buy and redevelop the Millennium.

The hotel company confirmed the contract negotiations in a statement: “We can confirm that Millennium Hotels and Resorts has entered into a purchase and sale agreement with a local development company for the potential sale of our hotel in Cincinnati. The sale is contingent on certain conditions being satisfied, including the purchaser’s completion of its due diligence.”

Hamilton County Administrator Jeff Aluotto said the Millennium deal has the potential to be a “game-changer.”
