Palm Beach County Convention Center Expansion Considered

On the heels of a record-breaking year for the once -fledgling Palm Beach County Convention Center, local tourism leaders are weighing expansion of the 365,000-sf building to accommodate larger conventions and meetings, reports the Palm Beach Post.

The county’s Tourist Development Council voted this month to spend up to $50,000 to study expanding the convention center off Okeechobee Boulevard in downtown West Palm Beach.

The study also will look at the inventory of hotel rooms around the convention center to determine whether more would be needed to support a larger center.
