Terranea Resort, the 102-acre oceanfront destination on the Palos Verdes Peninsula, has completed a $12 million refresh of its meeting and event spaces, further establishing the resort as a premier destination for meetings along the Southern California coast. The renovation encompasses more than 60,000 square feet of interior event space, complemented by expansive outdoor venues and sweeping ocean views.
The renovation is part of Terranea’s ongoing $120 million property-wide reinvestment and introduces a fresh coastal aesthetic while preserving the flexibility meeting planners value. The resort’s extensive event portfolio accommodates gatherings of nearly every size, from executive meetings and intimate retreats to large-scale conferences, incentive programs and celebratory events.
Designed by Los Angeles-based RVD Associates, the refreshed spaces feature a relaxed Mediterranean-inspired aesthetic with natural textures, warm neutrals, layered lighting and subtle coastal details. Most meeting areas connect directly to outdoor spaces, creating seamless transitions between indoor and outdoor events and taking full advantage of Terranea’s dramatic oceanfront setting.
“Terranea offers meeting planners something that is increasingly difficult to find – remarkable scale paired with a truly distinctive sense of place,” said Ralph Grippo, president of Terranea Resort. “From intimate boardrooms to expansive ballrooms and oceanfront outdoor venues, our spaces provide the flexibility to bring virtually any meeting vision to life, while our destination services team creates experiences that connect groups to the landscape and to one another. The refreshed spaces reflect our commitment to refined design and signature culture of warm, intuitive service that supports planners and brings thoughtful luxury to every guest’s stay.”
The refreshed meeting and event spaces include three ballrooms, 33 meeting rooms, four executive boardrooms and two hospitality suites. The three ballrooms feature ceilings up to 23 feet high and can be configured to accommodate a variety of event formats. Outdoor terraces, lawn space, gardens and open-air venues provide additional options for receptions, meals, activities and expansive team-building experiences, all against the backdrop of the Pacific Ocean.
The resort’s in-house destination services team works with meeting planners to develop customized full-service programs – from planning to décor to transportation – around specific group goals. Team-building options range from scenic coastal hikes, and ocean-based excursions to falconry, archery, kayaking and paddleboarding through kelp forests. Groups can participate in creative workshops and wellness experiences such as movement breaks and sunrise or goat yoga with programs incorporating Terranea’s naturalists, ornithologists, artists and local community partners. Evening entertainment options include a Pacific view drone show or synchronized swimmers.
“Terranea’s natural setting gives planners an exceptional canvas for creating experiences that go well beyond the traditional meeting,” said Maribel Denner, director of sales, groups. “Groups can move from a productive session to an oceanfront reception, coastal adventure or wellness experience without ever leaving the resort.”
Additional enhancements include energy-efficient LED lighting, low-flow plumbing fixtures, expanded recycling initiatives, food waste management programs and efforts to reduce single-use plastics, consistent with Terranea’s resort-wide sustainability program.
