New Meeting Space and Special Offer Unveiled at Fairmont Hotel Vancouver as Part of $55+ Million Renovation

New Discovery Floor Wing adds 8,000 square feet and eight additional meeting rooms while special meeting offer provides perks for new bookings.

VANCOUVER – August 8, 2018: Fairmont Hotel Vancouver, located in the heart of downtown, has been hosting the city’s most important meetings for the past 79 years. A luxury four-star hotel, it has swung open the doors to an additional eight rooms and 8,000 square feet of meeting space on the Discovery Floor with a meeting offer that’s ideal for small to mid-sized gatherings. The new meeting space is in a dedicated wing and an easy connection to the original Discovery Floor and historic Conference Floor. Boasting expansive foyers, the rooms (most with natural light) have a soothing colour palette of sandstone, blue and rust, and were converted from former office space. It’s the latest in a glamorous revitalization that will see the hotel completely renovated for its 80th anniversary in 2019.

The floor takes its name from the spectacular Discovery Islands located on Canada’s west coast and each of the islands – and in this case, function space – has a distinct personality:

• Saltspring Island Room is thelargest at over 1,900 square feet and can be divided into three separate rooms via a soundproof air wall. With expansive windows that overlook the Vancouver Art Gallery, its versatility works well for banquets and meals or individual breakout rooms.
• Pender Island Room has over 1,500 square feet and corner windows allowing light to flood the room, and can accommodate a variety of setups.
• Langara Room and Bowen Island Room, are ideal for executive meetings for up to 14 attendees with permanent boardrooms, large windows, plush leather swivel chairs, and a 52″ large screen monitor.
• Quadra Island Room, offers 500 square feet and is the only room without natural light. It works well as a breakout room and a variety of functions.
• Edgecombe Island Room, is an intimate 300 square foot space with a 52″ screen monitor and views over the Vancouver Art Gallery. It’s a good choice for small meetings, convention office, or meals.

With the addition of the Discovery Floor, the hotel now offers 24 function rooms, two grand ballrooms, and 63,000 square feet of flexible space and is less than a ten-minute walk to the Vancouver Convention Centre. All meeting rooms are both wireless and wired with ADSL and Ethernet technology.

The Fairmont Hotel Vancouver team of in-house event planners, certified meeting professionals, and experienced banquet team ensure every meeting is a success. Custom menus can be created online and support services from PSAV, one of the world’s leading audio-visual companies is on site.
