Hilton Clearwater Beach Resort & Spa, an icon of Clearwater Beach for nearly four decades, has once again made history with its completion of a $20 million renovation. Today, the legendary nine-story resort stands better than ever following a major 20-month remodel. Highlights of the remodel include all new guest rooms, impressive interior upgrades, two new pools, a new restaurant, new spa, new fitness center and a newly opened Starbucks. This is the most extensive renovation in the hotel’s history.
“We are extremely proud of this massive renovation and believe it epitomizes the hotel’s legendary stature on Clearwater Beach,” said Carlos Sanchez, general manager. “Even more importantly, this transformation will greatly enhance the experience for all our valued guests.”
New Additions
Included in the renovations are many new options for food and beverage at the Hilton Clearwater Beach Resort & Spa. One of the crown jewels of the additions is the Spotted Donkey, a Mexican Cantina and Tequila Bar. The 162-seat restaurant serves a chef-inspired menu of fresh, made-from-scratch dishes. It also boasts an extensive tequila bar as well as a signature double barrel reposado tequila made exclusively for Spotted Donkey by Herradura.
Starbucks, which opened at Hilton Clearwater Beach Resort & Spa in August 2016, is now the only full-service Starbucks on Clearwater Beach. It serves approximately 350 guests per day.
The Hibiscus Spa, which opened last summer, is on the lobby level of the hotel and provides a host of services for men and women including massage, facials, nails and hair services. The 2,500-sf spa has eight oversized treatment rooms, with some offering a gulf view. It is the only resort spa on Clearwater Beach with a Vichy shower and that provides hair and airbrush makeup services.
A new state-of-the-art fitness center at Hilton Clearwater Beach Resort & Spa overlooks the neighboring Pier 60 Park and features a wide array of Life Fitness equipment for cardio, flexibility and strength training.
Guest Rooms and Common Areas
Renovations can be quickly noticed from the outside the Hilton Clearwater Beach Resort & Spa. The exterior of the building, along with balconies and railings, are newly painted and the interior has been upgraded with new solid wood flooring and newly carpeted hallways. Each of the 418 guest rooms and suites were fully renovated to include new A/C units, wall coverings, phones, case goods, soft goods, patio furniture and 50-inch TVs. New carpeting and a tile foyer also were added. Additionally, each guest room had a complete bathroom makeover including the replacement of tubs with glass-enclosed showers.
Existing dining outlets at the Hilton Clearwater Beach Resort & Spa feel like new establishments since the renovations. New wood flooring and a built-in buffet were added to the Carambola Restaurant. Coasters Lounge, which serves light fare and cocktails, was expanded to include a U-shaped bar with 30 stools, communal tables and casual seating with gorgeous views of the Gulf of Mexico.
Meeting Space
The 35,000 sf of flexible meeting space on the lobby level of the hotel also received a complete transformation. All meeting rooms and common areas received new carpet, wall coverings, lighting and artwork.
Pools and Decks
The two onsite pools and surrounding areas at Hilton Clearwater Beach Resort & Spa were completely renovated. Both pools and surrounding decking were excavated and cleared for the construction of two new pools. A large zero-entry pool as well as an oversized infinity pool were put in with tropical paver decking around them. Both pools are family friendly and heated year round. New decking, chairs, cabanas and colorful landscaping were added to finish the area.
