As you know, burnout doesn’t instantly occur, and detachment is one of several signs. I was coaching a talented individual who felt disconnected, and she wanted to be re-aligned with her passions, emotional well-being and social life. She felt as if she was operating like a machine in a vacuum. You may recognize some of these additional symptoms associated with being burnt out and detached from your job:

• A high-pace demanding role that often requires 45+ hours

• Not seeing and understanding the meaning behind your work

• An unpredictable work environment

• A lack of clarity in your role

 Changing jobs or careers is one thing we think about when we’re not in a good place, career-wise. There’s certainly a time and place to get out of an organization or industry, heavily contributing to burnout. Until you land a new job or make a fruitful career change, if that’s what’s best, here are three ways to improve your feelings of detachment.
