ASAE will present its Association Policy Leadership Award to Stephen J. Caldeira, president and CEO of the Household & Commercial Products Association, and its 2022 Sentinel Awards to Congressman Derek Kilmer (D-WA) and Senator Mike Braun (R-IN) as part of American Associations Day, ASAE’s annual legislative fly-in.
Caldeira and Congressman Kilmer will receive their awards on March 31 during the American Associations Day reception with the ASAE Board of Directors at the Hyatt Regency on Capitol Hill. Senator Braun is unable to attend the reception but will be presented with his Sentinel Award at a later date.
“ASAE is proud to recognize the leadership of ASAE’s Immediate Past Chair Steve Caldeira, and Congressman Kilmer and Senator Braun for their invaluable service to our country – particularly to support associations and the millions of American workers who depend on them,” said ASAE President and CEO Michelle Mason, FASAE, CAE. “Steve is a tireless advocate for the interests of ASAE and the association community, generously giving his time and communications and policy expertise to ensure our member organizations are positioned for success, and I can think of no other association leader more deserving of the Association Policy Leadership Award.”
“I am truly humbled and honored to receive ASAE’s Association Policy Leadership Award on behalf of the resolute staff, volunteers and advocates within our association community who are steadfastly committed to moving our industry forward,” Caldeira said.
“Congressman Kilmer and Senator Braun are actively promoting innovative and critically needed legislation to improve access to career development, such as the myriad professional credentials that associations provide, and to help American workers, professions and industries navigate pandemic recovery. We are grateful for their stewardship,” Mason said.
More than 100 association professionals will visit with legislators and their staff during American Associations Day, March 31-April 1, to demonstrate the power of associations and the community’s unique role in solving complex societal challenges and providing significant contributions to the U.S. economy. Association advocates will express the need for a pandemic risk coverage solution and share ways that associations, as the primary source of post-college education, help build equity in the workforce through expertise-driven certifications.
