As travel begins to resume around the globe, Nassau Paradise Island prepares for an increase in visitor arrivals this summer with updated entry protocols, convenient new flight routes and new developments on island for families to enjoy.

Vaccinated travelers now exempt from pre-arrival Covid testing
The Government of The Bahamas has announced that visitors traveling to The Bahamas who are fully vaccinated and have passed the two-week immunity period will be exempt from testing requirements for entry and inter-island travel. Vaccinated travelers must still apply for The Bahamas Travel Health Visa, upload proof of vaccination (by Pfizer, Moderna, Johnson & Johnson or AstraZeneca) and continue to adhere to health and safety protocols on-island.  Margaritaville Beach Resort, Nassau, Bahamas opens July 1
The highly anticipated Margaritaville Beach Resort, Nassau, Bahamas has announced its grand opening date of July 1, 2021, following a soft opening period. The casual-luxe resort will unveil the family-friendly Fins Up Water Park, featuring multiple slides, surf simulator, lazy river, dive pool and grotto. Ten island-inspired bars and restaurants will open ranging from Caribbean casual to upscale cuisine, joining the signature JWB Prime Steak and Seafood (already open). Also opening will be the Parakeets Kids’ Club and the tranquil and tropical St. Somewhere Spa.

Baha Bay beachfront water park opens July 2 at Baha Mar
Baha Mar has announced its new $200 million luxury beachfront water park will open July 2, 2021. The 15-acre Baha Bay will be available to Baha Mar guests, featuring more than 30 water attractions – including the Caribbean’s only water coasters, a FlowCurl™ Surf simulator, multiple thrill slides and pools, and more – as well as luxury cabanas, an innovative culinary program, retail venues and exclusive casino gaming pavilion.

Sandals Royal Bahamian to complete $37 million renovation
The adult-only, all-inclusive Sandals Royal Bahamian will reopen on Nov. 4 following a $37 million reimagination. The project will include a refurbishment of the resort’s more than 200 rooms and suites, as well as the addition of new River Pool Swim-up Suites with butler service.

Men’s and women’s collegiate basketball tournament play returns to Battle 4 Atlantis
Atlantis is already looking ahead to the annual Bad Boy Mowers Battle 4 Atlantis Thanksgiving holiday tournament (Nov. 24-26). Celebrating its 10th year, the 12-game, three-day men’s tournament will include Arizona State, Auburn, Baylor, Connecticut, Loyola Chicago, Michigan State, Syracuse and Virginia Commonwealth. Preceding the men’s tournament will be the inaugural 2021 Battle 4 Atlantis Women’s Tournament held on Nov. 20-22. Following the same format, the women’s teams include South Carolina, Buffalo, Connecticut, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Florida, Minnesota and Syracuse.

Airlift continues to rebound with new non-stop service from Miami (MIA) and Austin, TX (AUS)
American Airlines recently announced new non-stop flights from Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS) to Lynden Pindling International Airport (NAS) beginning June 5, 2021, and available on Saturdays through Aug. 14. Additionally, starting June 24, Frontier Airlines will begin direct flight service from Miami International Airport (MIA) to Nassau available four times a week (Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday departures throughout Summer 2021). Destination airline partners are adding seats and flights as demand continues to ramp up. Nassau is currently served by non-stop flights from 26 U.S. markets.
