The Grand Resort recently completed a $30 million growth and expansion program which has created one of the greatest new resorts in the country. The resort underwent a complete transformation, focusing on public spaces, guest rooms, food and beverage options, specially-themed lounges, spa and salon services, meeting space, recreation including golf, tennis, fitness, and aquatics, along with numerous other amenities, and exterior improvements.

The Grand Resort’s extensive campus now includes The Hotel (130 rooms and suites), The Conference & Event Center, The Golf Center, The Grand Spa and Salon, The Roman Bath & Resort Pools, The Fitness Center, The Tennis Center, The Recreation Center, The Restaurants, The Wine Cellar & Lounge, and The Grand Lounge and Cigar Store. The Grand Resort also enjoys a special collaboration with Medici Museum of Art, which is just a short walk out the front door of the Resort.

“We’ve taken the resort concept to a whole new level and have created a destination second to none,” said Ron Klingle, chairman and CEO of Avalon Holdings Corp, owner of the property. “We’re seeing a significant increase in reservations and special event bookings from both the business and leisure markets nationwide including Canada,” Klingle added.

One of the unique features of The Grand Resort is that registered hotel guests are also members of Avalon Golf and Country Club during their stay, and enjoy the use of the facilities and amenities at Avalon Golf and Country Club at Squaw Creek, Avalon Golf and Country Club at Buhl Park, The Avalon Field Club at New Castle, and the Avalon Athletic Club at Boardman.

Klingle further explained the unique relationship between The Grand Resort and Avalon Golf and Country Club, and how it benefits both Resort guests and Country Club members. “What we have developed here is unlike anything else I’ve seen anywhere in the world,” Klingle stated. “We have a world-class Resort, whose guests can experience the finest in hotel accommodations and resort amenities, plus take advantage of four championship golf courses, 26 restaurants/21 bars/6 lounges, two spas and salons, 13 indoor tennis courts, eight outdoor tennis courts, pickleball, six swimming pools (including a 25-meter indoor Olympic pool), three fitness centers, indoor and outdoor basketball courts, bocce courts, and so much more offered through the Resort ,and Avalon Golf and Country Club’s five locations,” said Klingle.

As part of the renovation and expansion, The Hotel now features more than 15 unique varieties of luxurious rooms and suites, all offering the ultimate in sleeping comfort and room amenities. Guests can experience the ultimate resort stay in the Presidential Suite, Executive King Suite, and Grand Spa Suite or select other luxury or premium rooms with various bed configurations, including special pet-friendly rooms, all offering the highest level of furnishings and amenities.

As a destination golf resort, The Grand Resort is second to none. The Resort’s Avalon Lakes golf course is a Pete Dye masterpiece that has hosted a number of LPGA tournaments. Also on the resort campus is the Indoor Golf Center featuring four state-of-the-art simulators where guests can play more than 50 of the world’s top courses. Resort guests also have full access to the three Avalon Golf and Country Club courses of Avalon at Squaw Creek, Avalon at Buhl Park (PA), and the Avalon Field Club at New Castle (PA).

The renovation and expansion project has created a first-class location for business meetings and conferences. Guests can stay overnight in luxury accommodations adjacent to a wide variety of meeting and conference rooms designed for groups up to 400. Multiple smaller meeting rooms are available for breakout sessions or individualized presentations. After the day’s events, conference attendees can take advantage of many amenities offered at the resort.
