On August 17, New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio announced that people over 12 years old must show proof of vaccination in order to enjoy indoor dining, entertainment or go to indoor fitness centers. Enforcement, however, will not occur until September 13. Several hotels are also instituting similar policies, according to The New York Times.
PUBLIC Hotel will start requiring full vaccination proof starting September 5. The Equinox Hotel will mandate proof beginning September 13. The Wythe Hotel has already implemented the policy. Other places outside the city are starting to enforce the policy as well, including the Urban Cowboy Lodge in Big Indian, New York, and the Pilgrim House in Provincetown, Massachusetts. Elite Island Resorts, which is located in Florida and has many Caribbean resorts, began requiring proof on September 1. Hotels throughout Puerto Rico also began to be required to show proof of vaccination starting in August. These are just a few examples of places that are requiring proof of vaccines. Is this the beginning of more mandates? Will other hotels follow suit?
