The Louisville Downtown Marriott Hotel will begin a complete renovation of the hotel beginning on June 16. The hotel, which first opened in March 2005, is undergoing its second renovation.

The Louisville Marriott Downtown has secured its place as Louisville’s convention hotel and is currently the No. 1 Marriott convention network hotel in the world. The renovation, which is scheduled to be completed in August of  2018, will be a complete hotel re-imagination. The hotel will not close its doors for its customers and guests — it will still be able to provide rooms and space for meeting and social events. Once completed, the guest experience from the lobby to the restaurant to meeting spaces, ballrooms, and guest rooms will have an authentic Louisville style. The designs for all the renovations are closely tied to the heritage of Louisville with a sense of handcrafted unique elements. The first phase will include the lobby and the restaurant renovations.

Phase One: The Porch Restaurant (Champions Sports Bar & Grille to close)

The Porch will offer a familiar, comfortable approach to foods with a nod to the ingredients native to this region. It will have an open-air experience that will bring the outside in and the inside out. This will allow for the hotel to fully activate the corner of Jefferson and Third St. with great food, local music and hand crafted cocktails in very inviting setting. The Porch will be the place for locals and visitors alike to sit on The Porch and socialize while enjoying a great dining experience in the heart of Louisville.

“This renovation is part of the evolution of Louisville. David Greene, General Manager of the Louisville Marriott Downtown says, “We believe this a growing market with opportunities to attract high rated convention business and leisure travelers. With the convention center under construction we believe now is the right time to renovate the Marriott. Our $30 million renovation is being done with Marriott’s industry leading innovation in design, technology and service delivery. With the best in class service we are known for at the Louisville Marriott, we will continue to be the hotel of choice for your home away from home.”
