With the opening of Sweetgrass Inn in Spring 2021, Wild Dunes Resort will become the premier destination for groups and events in Charleston, SC Sweetgrass Inn will offer 153 guestrooms and 30,000 square feet of meeting and event space, including the Lowcountry’s first and only rooftop ballroom featuring unparalleled ocean views. This new hotel doubles the existing amount of function space and will make Wild Dunes Resort the largest meeting and event venue in the Lowcountry, hosting groups of up to 650 people with more than 620 available accommodations. Sweetgrass Inn is currently booking meetings and events through 2024.

“The addition of Sweetgrass Inn will make Wild Dunes Resort a haven for groups looking to experience the ultimate Charleston retreat,” says Frank Fredericks, managing director at Wild Dunes Resort. “We will be able to offer large groups and conventions the chance to experience a Charleston getaway that they simply couldn’t before. In addition to a variety of modern, flexible meeting venues, the resort also offers guests unparalleled amenities and activities for all to enjoy.”

Sweetgrass Inn’s Indigo Room & Rooftop will be the Lowcountry’s first and only rooftop ballroom and terrace, perfect for formal events and weddings. Sweeping views of the Atlantic Ocean, the intracoastal waterway, Lowcountry marshes and even the Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge in the distance will provide a stunning backdrop for any event. This sixth-floor space will be the only vantage point of its kind, rising above the oceanfront resort community’s canopy of aged live oak trees. Guests will adore Wild Dunes Resort’s signature sandy beaches and the coastal blue waters from this sky-high venue, offering incomparable sights of the Lowcountry’s signature splendor, as never before seen.

The 6,000 square-foot terrace is perfect for weddings, galas and cocktail parties of up to 300. The adjacent covered terrace space is ideal for a scenic cocktail hour. Indoor, the 3,000 square-foot rooftop ballroom can accommodate seated receptions or parties. A private bar will serve event guests, and an additional public bar on the same floor will offer resort guests another chance to enjoy the scenery with a drink in hand.

Osprey Ballroom & Terrace

The first-floor 8,000 square-foot grand ballroom and terrace space can accommodate groups of up to 800. With partitions to divide the ballroom into seven individual spaces, this is perfect for multi-function events. The Osprey also features indoor and outdoor pre-function space including a covered outdoor terrace overlooking the hotel’s lively pools and sun deck. There is also a full kitchen that allows for catering service.

Avocet Boardroom

Adjacent to the Osprey Ballroom, the 570 square-foot Avocet Boardroom provides a more intimate space for meetings or private events. Perfect for private dinners, executive meetings or small gatherings, the Avocet Boardroom is practical for smaller groups.

Catering

Sweetgrass Inn will offer a catering menu carefully selected by the resort’s exceptional culinary team. Breakfast, lunch, snack and dinner options include Lowcountry staples, like local seafood, stone-ground grits, boiled peanuts and Charleston pralines. Optional classic-southern side dishes, Charleston-inspired cocktails and delicious desserts are the perfect addition to any Lowcountry event.

Amenities

The Sweetgrass Inn will feature state-of-the-art amenities to indulge meeting guests during their down time. The 10,000 square-foot Sweetgrass Spa & Wellness will feature 14 treatment rooms and indoor and outdoor relaxations spaces, including a 3,000 square-foot outdoor lounge with plunge pools, cabanas and a private sun deck. Sweetgrass Inn’s outdoor pool deck will be the perfect spot for families to gather for swimming, eating and fun.

Activities

In addition to relaxing on the two miles of pristine beaches around the resort, Wild Dunes Resort offers team building activities specific to the Lowcountry landscape. Activities include indigo dying and sweetgrass basket weaving classes, a boat ride to nearby Goat Island, a watercraft excursion from the Isle of Palms Marina, oystering or clamming, skeet shooting in the Charleston Harbor, a culinary tour of some of Charleston’s best restaurants or breweries, a visit to Fort Sumter National Monument, 18 holes at the Links and Harbor courses and more.
