SITE’s New CITP Certification Exam to be Offered at IMEX America

Certified Incentive Travel Professional (CITP) is a new, career defining designation for mid to senior level incentive travel professionals offered by Society for Incentive Travel Excellence (SITE). Since its launch at IMEX Frankfurt last month, the program is off to a fast start with more than 25 incentive professionals already earning their CITP designation.

Registration is now open for the next public sitting of the CITP exam on Monday, October 15, sponsored by One10 prior to the start of IMEX America in Las Vegas.

The CITP certificate is awarded upon successful completion of an 80 question examination designed to measure and validate a candidate’s performance against typical requirements of an incentive travel professional. Aimed specifically at incentive travel planners in corporations and agencies, CITP is also relevant to senior managers on the supplier side — DMOs, CVBs, DMCs, hotels, cruise companies, venues, etc.

The exam may be taken by incentive travel professionals who have five years full time employment in the incentive travel industry and 40 hours of continuous professional education — of which 25 percent must be specifically produced by SITE and related to incentive travel; or have earned their Certified Incentive Specialist (CIS) designation and have three years full time employment in the industry and 40 hours of continuous professional education — of which 25 percent must be specifically produced by SITE and related to incentive travel.

To prepare for the CITP examination, SITE is offering an Online Certification Preparation Course consisting of nine modules (3.5 CE credit) on topic areas mapped to the CITP Exam Content Outline. These credits can be applied to the 10 hours of SITE education required to qualify for the CITP exam. The prep course is available to SITE members for $395 USD or for non-members at $495 USD. Access to the course will be available for one-year following the date of purchase.

CITP will be available by invitation of sponsoring organizations and agencies at select events such as SITE Classic in Palmetto Bluff, South Carolina in September. The exam will also be offered in two sittings — 9:00 AM and 1:00 PM — on October 15, the Monday before IMEX America begins.  To learn more about CITP and register for the exam go here.
