The Sheraton Old San Juan Hotel in Puerto Rico, located in the heart of the Caribbean’s most visited city, is putting the finishing touches on a multiphase, year-long renovation. The top-to-bottom overhaul touched upon the entirety of the 240-room property, from the lobby and public spaces, to an all-new rooftop pool. Each one of its guest rooms, 198 in total and 38 of 42 suites, will be completed by May 2017. There will be a grand finale this fall when the nearly 1,100-sf Presidential Suite and a trio of newly renovated and expanded Governor’s Suites will be unveiled. The meeting and banquet facilities were unveiled in January.

Upon entering the updated lobby at the Sheraton Old San Juan, the impressive signature staircase cannot be missed. There is a coastal-inspired color palette, with blue accents reflective of the nearby ocean. The inviting space has all-new furnishings, most notably a communal table with easily accessible USB ports that make it conducive to networking and casual meetings.

The coastal charm carries into the guest rooms and suites with a sky blue and sand-hued palette creating the perfect balance of color and neutrality. The rooms are the ultimate spot for rest and relaxation, while still accommodating the needs of those traveling for work. All of the hotel’s accommodations now feature the ultra-comfortable Sheraton Sleep Experience beds.

The hotel has added nearly two dozen more double-bedded accommodations; this room type represents nearly 50 percent of the property’s inventory with 100 now available. Another noteworthy addition to the rooms are mini-refrigerators to store beverages and late-night snacks.

“In planning and executing this extensive renovation we kept all of our valued guests in mind,” said General Manager Larry Vitale. “The rooftop pool is important to our leisure guests, while state-of-the art meeting rooms and banquet facilities are critical for our corporate and group clients, as well as the local community for social events. We looked at all our market segments and made sure we were addressing what matters most to them as we made plans for the ‘new’ Sheraton Old San Juan Hotel. We are extremely proud of the outcome.”

The 9,000 sf of meeting and banquet space features new furniture, carpeting, wall covering, lighting and more. The rooftop pool, sitting high atop the nine-story hotel, has all-new furniture, including loungers for enjoying Puerto Rico’s warm weather, and spectacular views of San Juan Bay and the new Bahia Urbana Boardwalk.
