The Westin Hilton Head Island Resort & Spa has announced the opening of The Grand Ocean Terrace, a new all-glass oceanfront event venue, this June. The Grand Ocean Terrace, the final piece of the resort’s $40 million renovation, is elevated above beach level and boasts more than 5,000 sf of space comfortably hosting up to 400 guests. Glass walls slide open to a full-length covered balcony overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, while the interior boasts all-season climate comfort amid a chic coastal design. The adjacent stone patio with fireplace overlooks an expansive beachfront deck.
Award-winning “Ecotecht,” David Sklar, and award-winning Designer, Kelly Caron, collaborated on The Grand Ocean Terrace keeping the history and natural elements of the Carolina Coast paramount. Sights and sounds of the sea fill the space while Hilton Head artisans’ crafted fixtures showcase the varied talents of the local community. Extraordinary creativity stemmed from Savannah Hardscapes, Distinctive Granite & Marble, and Lowcountry Originals who lent their talents to nurture key design elements bringing unique characteristics of the region to life.
In discussing the Grand Ocean Terrace, designer Kelly Caron noted, “Our region is steeped in history and tradition — its mesmerizing beauty is one of the most distinct in the world and we’ve channeled all those elements into this space. This is more than a venue, it symbolizes all the natural wonders that our community has come to be known for across the globe.”
General Manager,Tim Freisen, commented “Though we recently completed a $32 million renovation, the opening of The Grand Ocean Terrace is the next evolution in our world-class property. The island’s newest venue not only stands to benefit The Westin, but also enhance Hilton Head’s status among wedding professionals and high-end planners throughout the nation. We are delighted to contribute to the island’s notoriety and even more excited that we get to work with so many talented local artisans. This space is more than a venue — it’s a game changer.”
