MPI and Meetings Mean Business to Present Global Meetings Virtual Event

March 22, 2018

What: Meeting Professionals International (MPI) and the Meetings Mean Business Coalition (MMBC) are collaborating to present a free, 12-hour live stream of Global Meetings Industry Day (GMID) events taking place around the world. The GMID Virtual Event begins at 6 a.m. CDT on Thursday, April 12th, highlighting events starting in Europe, and concludes at 6 p.m. CDT with broadcasts from North America.

This inaugural special event will demonstrate the power, reach and scale of the global meetings industry and feature interviews with industry leaders, behind the scenes content, CMP-eligible educational sessions and more. Thanks to the GMID Virtual Event sponsor, Mexico Tourism Board, participants will be able to access the free live stream at any time throughout the day as well as view an archived recording later.

To register and view the broadcast schedule, visit www.mpiweb.org/events/gmid. Please note, more local events will be added to the schedule over the next few weeks.

Why Gmid Matters: GMID convenes leaders from across the meetings and events industry to ensure that the media, elected officials and the general public understand how meetings foster strong relationships, drive positive outcomes and support vibrant communities. Meeting professionals across the world participate in this international day of advocacy, with more than 120 events held across six continents in 2017. This year’s tagline is “Real results, real impact, all around the world.”

The foundation for GMID began with Canadian Meetings Industry Day, a longstanding annual tradition developed by the MPI chapter in Canada that then grew into 2015’s North American Meetings Industry Day (NAMID). In 2016, the first global expansion of this initiative was launched. For more details about GMID or to find a local event, visit meetingsmeanbusiness.com/gmid.
