MPI: Meeting Industry Growth Positive But Cooling

Meeting Professionals International (MPI) published its Meetings Outlook, 2016 Spring Edition. The latest installment of the quarterly special report indicates meeting and event industry projections remain solidly positive but stabilizing at a slightly cooler rate than in 2015.

Key findings include the following:

The projected change in business conditions (2.7 percent) is slightly weaker than the previous quarter, suggesting a continuation of the gradual cooling of growth.
Respondents project a 1.8 percent growth in budget — statistically identical to last quarter — reinforcing the idea of stability in the industry.
32 percent of respondents cite the seller’s market as a top issue, making that the most prevalent trend this quarter.
