Mexico Is Up and Running

September 22, 2017

The Tourism Promotion Council in Mexico has issued the following statement:

The Tourism Promotion Council, together with the entire tourism industry in Mexico, expresses its condolences to the families affected by the earthquake that hit central Mexico on September 19, 2017.

The Federal Government of Mexico has initiated a joint work with the state and local governments to support the affected individuals, who simultaneously update a report of damages.

According to recent reports, several areas in Puebla, Morelos and Mexico City have been affected. The tourist attractions remain operative in these destinations. The afternoon yesterday, the international airports in Mexico City and Puebla suspended operations as part of the precautionary protocol; after four hours, they resumed activity and continue to operate normally.

Additionally, we are pleased to report that no other tourist destination has been affected and everyone is working in a normal way.

According to the facts, there is no reason for visitors to cancel their travel plans to Mexico.

Both the Tourism Promotion Council and the tourism industry in Mexico are focused on ensuring that visitors in affected tourist areas are provided with the necessary assistance while continuing their travel plans.

We will share constant updates, once we have official information of the situation.
