The Episcopal Church’s 79th General Convention in Austin, Texas brings roughly 10,000 people and an estimated $10 million in revenue to the city, reports KXAN, NBC’s local news station. The event, only held every three years, chose the Capital City this year.
It’s something Visit Austin, which helps promote tourism, says it helps bring in revenue during the slow summer months.
The convention is just one of a handful of large-scale events that the city appreciates for the economic boosts they offer, an estimated $567 million this year alone.
