The groundbreaking ceremony last week for a new hotel adjacent to the Las Cruces Convention Center came about 14 years later than expected, says a story in the Las Cruces Sun-News.
When the original plans for the convention center were first drawn up, they called for a hotel on the property that would house visitors who had come from out of town for conventions, and serve as a training ground for students in New Mexico State University’s School of Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism Management.
