Hilton Austin announced April 20 the beginning of a multimillion-dollar transformation initiative that will include a full renovation of the hotel’s lobby, public areas and meeting space, as well as the launch of two new restaurant concepts, a Starbucks and a flexible event venue. EDG Interior Architecture + Design have been tapped for the massive project that will begin in May and continue through the end of the year.

“This year is going to be an exciting year for our hotel,” said Robert Watson, general manager of Hilton Austin. “When we complete this endeavor, Hilton Austin will reflect the true culture and vibe of our city. These additions and improvements will also give us fresh and creative ways to meet the ever-changing needs of our guests and remind them where they are at every turn.”

Watson added that the project has been carefully planned in phases to minimize any inconvenience. “We hope our guests will enjoy being a part of our progress and share in our excitement as we bring each of these concepts and designs to life and secure our relevancy in the market,” he said.

The Lobby — Complete Mid-Summer
With small, intimate social zones, designated work spaces and a funky new digital media wall, the new Hilton Austin lobby will offer a personal experience with local flair.

Cannon + Belle — Opens Late Summer
With a dynamic, multistation open kitchen and a specialty tap wine and cocktail program, this social living room offers a delicious Texas-fresh menu throughout the day.

The Reverbery — Opens Late Summer
This is not your typical banquet hall. With an “Austin-cool” recording studio vibe, The Reverbery is part cozy, part funky, and all Austin with flexible indoor/outdoor space and specially designed food and drink menus that reflect the culinary culture of the Live Music Capital.

Meeting space — Complete Early Fall
This 80,000-sf meeting space refresh combines elegance with modern elements and will complement both social and business functions. Guests can expect subtle aesthetic decor that provides the perfect backdrop for blending event themes whether it be a grand gala or business meetings of any size.

Austin Taco Project — Opens Late Fall
A block off of Austin’s music “Main Street,” this craft beer and fusion taco bar will welcome locals and visitors with an expansive street-front patio. This energetic hot spot serves up a novel take on tacos with a custom cocktail program and pub games — doing its part to keep Austin delicious and weird (in the best possible way!)

Starbucks — Opens Late Fall
More than a coffee shop, this new 3,000-sf Starbucks will incorporate locally relevant design elements unique to Austin and include Starbucks Reserve coffees, the company’s premium line of coffees from around the world. The store also will be one of the first in Texas to offer Starbucks Evenings menu, which includes a selection of wine, beer, small plates and desserts beginning at 4 p.m.

This announcement follows a steady stream of improvements to the hotel including a $23 million upgrade to the hotel’s 801 guest rooms, suites and executive lounge in 2014 and an extensive $1 million refurbishment of the hotel’s eighth-floor pool deck and bar in spring 2013.
