Goal Setting And Gut Intelligence: How To Stay In Tune All Year

If you’re like many people, you’ve set goals for 2020. But you likely don’t revisit them often, or you get discouraged when the results aren’t happening as fast as you would like.

When I work with my clients, I not only have them break down their goals in measurable steps, but I also have them increase their gut intelligence (or GQ). This is because I believe improving your GQ gives you the wisdom to know the truth and the guts to make any adjustments needed to succeed.

I begin the goal-setting process by first having my clients break their goals down personally and professionally in seven areas of their life: vocationally, financially, relationally, mentally, emotionally, physically and spiritually. This includes an overall statement for each of the goals, along with three to five actionable steps under each one.

Then, I have them break down those actionable steps so that they know who is doing what by when. This helps hold everyone accountable to a timeline so things get done. Some say this is like setting SMART goals, which is an acronym for goals that are specific, measurable, attainable, relevant and time-based.
