Destination Colorado, collaborative state-wide marketing association that caters to meeting planners and incentive buyers by promoting Colorado as a premier meetings destination, is pleased to announce its Peak Performer of the Year award winners for 2020. Justin Clark is recognized as Destination Colorado Individual of the Year, and Aspen Chamber Resort Association is recognized as Member of the Year. These honors were awarded at Destination Colorado’s (Virtual) Meetings Showcase in December 2020, which attracted nearly 400 planners from around the country.

Destination Colorado’s Peak Performer of the Year awards are given to members in recognition of their leadership and commitment to promoting the meeting and group industry on behalf of the entire state of Colorado.

INDIVIDUAL OF THE YEAR: Justin Clark

Destination Colorado is honored to present its 2020 Peak Performer Individual of the Year to Justin Clark, Director of Sales at Visit Aurora.

“We have so many talented individuals involved with Destination Colorado, and every year it is a challenge in deciding the recipient of this award.  But this year our decision was clear with the 2020 Individual of the Year truly representing the “Best of the Best in our industry.” says Destination Colorado Board President Ellen Collins.

“Justin’s leadership qualities were demonstrated during a challenging year. He remained optimistic and inspirational and has served as a real mentor to many in our industry. He worked tirelessly to ensure the success of our Colorado Meetings Showcase.” continues Collins.  “He was an integral part in the planning and details for the event and kept everyone on track to ensure a successful event.”

COMPANY OF THE YEAR: Aspen Chamber Resort Association

Destination Colorado’s Peak Performer Company of the Year is recognized by our association as the “Best of the Best” based on their 2020 efforts and commitment to Destination Colorado and the meetings industry.

The Aspen Chamber has already established a prestigious and stellar reputation in the travel and meetings industry and is on everyone’s bucket list as a “can’t be missed destination.”  The Aspen Chamber team and their community partners have been front and center during the current pandemic in curating unique and safe experiences for Colorado guests, at the same time thinking “outside of the box” to offer meeting services and activities that both entertain and inspire.

“The Aspen Chamber has been involved with Destination Colorado for many years, both as a member and a Board Member helping to drive strategy and programs to benefit Colorado and the meetings industry at large.” says Collins.

“In 2020 they boldly volunteered to serve as our host for our annual Destination Colorado Customer Appreciation event, at a two day face-to-face event that included 50 planners and suppliers this fall.  The event took place in one of Colorado’s most  spectacular backdrops and incorporated real vision and creativity during all activities, meals and social gatherings. The Aspen community is passionate about what they do and where they live.  They care about their destination and they treasure the great outdoors.  As a result, they treat their environment with a great deal of respect and care and are committed to caring for and preserving that environment for future generations.”
