ASAE to Bestow Exceptional Leadership Honors

ASAE will present Bryan Silbermann, FASAE, CAE, CEO of the Produce Marketing Association, with this year’s Key Award. In addition, Robert Olcott, CAE, FASAE, CIMA, AIF, Managing Director at ORION Investment Advisors will be bestowed with the Academy of Leaders Award; and Tracy Petrillo, EdD, CAE, Chief Learning Officer at EDUCAUSE, will receive the Professional Performance Award.

“Each of the individual award winners have inspired the association community with their vision, leadership, volunteering and dedication to the profession. Congratulations to this year’s award winners,” said Chip Deale, FASAE, CAE, vice president, membership and chapter relations of Financial Executives International and chair of the 2016 Awards & Recognition Committee.

Bryan Silbermann, CAE, is the 67th recipient of the Key Award, ASAE’s highest honor presented to association chief staff executives who demonstrate exceptional qualities of leadership in his or her own association and displays a deep commitment to voluntary membership organizations. Silbermann has served on several ASAE committees including: Finance and Administration Council, Awards Committee, Technology Committee, Technology Section Council, Strategic Leadership Forum, Education Committee, ASAE Foundation Measures Task Force, Summit Awards Steering Committee and ASAE Board of Directors (2001–2004). He became a Fellow in 1992 and chaired the Fellows Committee in 1995-96. In 1989, he earned his certification for association executive (CAE).

Robert Olcott, CAE, FASAE, CIMA, AIF, is the 29th recipient of the Academy of Leaders Award, which is ASAE’s highest honor given to industry partners who have demonstrated exemplary support of ASAE and the entire association community. Olcott has been involved with the association community for more than 40 years. He started working with the National School Boards Association in 1975, before joining EF Hutton in 1983. In 1989, he founded the Olcott Consulting Group, the parent company of Orion Investment Advisors. He has been involved with ASAE and served on several committees including: Key Consultants Committee, Greater Washington Network and the Finance and Business Council. Olcott became a Fellow in 2010, and he earned his CAE in 1983.

Tracy Petrillo, EdD, CAE, is the 42nd recipient of ASAE’s Professional Performance Award, which recognizes invaluable contributions made by association executives who are at the top level within their organizations but are not CEOs. Petrillo is vice-chair of the CAE Commission and a member of the Gold Circle Awards Committee. She also has served as chair of the Assessments Task Force and ASAE Foundation Knowledge Management Research Task Force. She was chair of the CalSAE Capital Regional Council and member of the ASAE Meetings and Exposition Section Council and Professional Development Section Council. She earned her CAE in 2007.

The awards will be presented at the 2016 ASAE Annual Meeting & Exposition, August 13–16, in Salt Lake City, Utah.
